Lovely starter kit - just disappointed I didn't get the bigger box! Not ready to complete yet but looking forward to using the lovey polishes.
The black water mark on my kitchen worktop has lightened and with a little light sanding and polish will look as good as new . Highly recommend .
We have been using a different wax for a long time and thought we would try Gilboys, i have to say the glow it has given the furniture is fabulous, will be purchasing a bigger pot soon. Simon is great to deal with as well.
Great product, highly recommend. Big supporter of Gilboys ethos too
Very high quality product which I used to condition a leather bag. Would recommend this product as it does not stain leather.
On first use of rotary brush at a fairly slow speed there were lots of the bristles coming out, is this normal ? The brush does it's job well but for how long.
Hi Andrew.
Thanks for buying our buffing brush.
It is normal for some of the tampico filling to fly off on first use.
Before Ian packs them, I normally I spin each one up here in the workhop. This helps remove the loose fibres.
It should be fine after the intiall use. ✅
Kind regards
Simon Gilboy
I received the oil and beeswax exactly when they were expected. They are brilliant products and so easy to use. I had stripped back a 1980s pine chest of drawers that had seen better days, now it is revitalised and glowing. I can't wait to start on the next piece.
Brilliant product, easy to use - brought water stained table up a treat. Would deffo recommend!
Does exactly what it says on the tin.
Beautiful product, lovingly packaged.
I bought a jar of the 'antique gold' polish in the hope of reviving one side of my sun bleached mahogany dresser. It acted slowly but a lot of the colour returned, to my surprise. I am now working my way around the house! The polish goes on very smoothly and is a dream to polish!
I bought this product after a recommendation from YouTube and was not disappointed. I then went on and bought further Gilboys products and now refuse to use anything else.
I have tried many different Beeswax products to-date, none of which gave a pleasing result. Gilboy's Pure Gold has given my dining table a wonderful shine and brings it to life. Table has been cleaned of oil and sanded to 320 grit. Then 2 coats of boiled linseed oil with dark oak stain. I have applied two coats of Gilboy's and am amazed by the results. Simon's videos were immensely helpful. Thanks.
I belong to a Men in sheds organisation and use a number of products we have recently accepted a gift from ronseal but am afraid that your product is more superior we all fight to use it on our end products.
Gilboys wax Polish is excellent,it protects and gives s lovely sheen. It has many uses andwe would recommend it 👌 👍
Got this as an alternative to Danish oil on small items like knife scales and the finish is incredible. Bit messy to apply on small things but other than that WOW
Great product and quickly sent. Used on our oak window frames to help reduce grey stain in wood veins.
And yes I'm the idiot :)
As they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
So the doors are the same cheap B&Q oak veneer product, with the one on the left after 1 coat of hard wax oil. The oil has done a great job of enhancing the door.
I bought a small jar of 'antique gold' beeswax polish to try to get the shine back to an 1830s Welsh oak chest that was very faded after sitting in a sunny room. I wasn't expecting great results, so was very surprised to see the rich orange glow of the old wood start to make a comeback! The quality of this product is superb: it's like nothing you'll buy in an ordinary shop. A small jar will go a long way, too.
Gilboy's Pure Gold polish is much harder than the bees wax polish I have been using for years, that was originally purchased from Robert Thompsons. The Pure Gold polish can be applied with little effort and covers the wood well and to my surprise will produce a shine with much less elbow grease than the polish I used to use. I am very pleased with the Pure Gold polish and now I have tried it out, once the jar is used up I will consider moving to the 1Kg tins in the future. Well done Mr. Gilboy for developing and supplying the perfect replacement to my old polish. Thank you.
I am very pleased with my purchase of your beeswax polish. I have attached a photo of a 17th Century linen chest, after a single application of the polish which has really enhanced the lustre of the wood. Unfortunately, I did not take a 'before' photo but it was looking quite dull in comparison.. I have also used the polish on a light oak dining table and chairs with similar results.
Thank you for such an excellent product!
Best wishes
Paul
My dining table had been showing its age so I decided to lightly sand the top and apply French polish but couldn't get the desired finish. A well known liquid wax resolved the problem but despite using table mats the heat damaged the surface. By chance, an episode of Salvage Hunters mentioned Gilboys and an online check seemed that the hard wax oil was the product to use.
The table top was stripped and then stained with a light oak before applying the first of 3 coats of the oil with a soft paint brush. The table was lightly sanded with 400 grade before each of the 2 other coats were applied. I am impressed with the result, a soft sheen without any evidence of brush strokes , with the surface sealed and heat proof. The only downside is the wife now wanting me to do some other furniture! Pictures show the table stripped (no 4), with stain (no 3) and 2 pictures of the finished table.
Excellent product, very easy to work with and superb finish. We used it on a 1980’s style G-Plan teak table and the finish was a perfect match.
I have been very impressed with the quality of products and especially the service. Friendly and helpful and I will certainly use your products in the future.
