polishing with beeswax starter kit

Everything you need to start polishing your furniture like a professional with the best beeswax polish:

  • 'pure gold' for use on light coloured woods such as Ash, Beech, Maple, Light Oak and Pine
  • 'rose gold' specially formulated for use on Rosewood, Teak, Light Mahogany, Cherry, and Honey Oak furniture, G-Plan, Nathan, Mcintosh and all Mid Century Teak furniture or similar coloured woods.
  • 'antique gold' for use on dark coloured woods such as Antique Oak, Mahogany, Walnut, and Elm
  • Our antique restorers' recommended ultra-soft '0000'-grade oil-free wire wool that cleans the surface as it applies the wax polish
  • Our antique restorers' recommended open-weave 100% cotton polishing cloth for easier buffing without streaks
  • A complimentary box of sweet pea seeds for you to plant and grow as a special 'Thank You' to the hard-working bees  **unfortunately this offer excludes USA due to FDA regulations

Perfect if you have one prize piece of wooden furniture or have two or three pieces of different types of wood. We have ensured there is enough in each tin to cover a single piece of furniture (depending on the absorption rate of the wood) such as dining table, gate-leg table, bureau, chest of drawers, or four to six dining chairs.

Ideal for anyone who would like to polish a single piece of furniture but may be unsure which shade to buy.

If you would like to try your hand at beeswax polishing using the products professional restorers use, this kit is a great starting point.

Our beeswax furniture polish is made in the UK from the highest quality natural waxes we can source and is specially formulated to bring old furniture back to life:

  • The best triple-filtered beeswax, organically farmed and humanely harvested by the world renowned beekeepers at Buckfast Abbey
  • The finest natural T1-grade carnauba wax for longer lasting protection
  • The finest natural myrica, Japan and berry waxes we can source
  • Blended with nothing but pure pine gum spirits of turpentine in the traditional way
  • No white (mineral) spirits, No toluene, No aggressive petrochemical solvents and definitely NO SILICONE

Environmental preservation is very important to us and we make every effort to ensure our products have a minimal impact on the environment:
  • We are not driven by a corporate cost-reduction ethos. We select our components based on quality and sustainability rather than the cheapest alternatives
  • 100% Plastic-free recyclable packaging
    • Recycled cardboard and paper from FSC-approved mixed sources
    • Packing tape that is paper & cotton based with a water-based gum adhesive which can be recycled along with the cardboard boxes
    • No polypropylene-based tape. We use biodegradable raffia twine.
  • No petrochemical solvents, we use only pure pine gum spirits of turpentine
  • Our workshop roof is completely covered in solar panels and generates far more electricity than we consume

  1. For best results use our ultra-soft 0000-grade oil-free wire wool to apply the polish
  2. With gentle pressure spread the polish evenly over the surface in the direction of the grain, being careful not to over apply and avoid any upholstered areas. Once applied the surface area should look matt in appearance
  3. Allow the pure pine turpentine to completely evaporate and the wax to harden (15-20 minutes in temperate climates)
  4. Use our open-weave pure cotton buffing cloth to buff the wax with ease and without leaving streaks

Weekly furniture maintenance of removing dust can be done by simply using a slightly damp cloth and drying if needed with a clean dry cloth - beeswax polish will protect the surface for a very long time.

If you have a larger surface like the side of a chest of drawers or the top of a dining table apply the beeswax more evenly by dabbing the surface all over with small amounts of polish, then wipe in the direction of the grain to spread the wax evenly.

For carved relief areas such as an antique coffer, you can also apply beeswax furniture polish with a cheap 1 inch trimmed paint brush. It makes applying the beeswax much easier and allows the polish to get right into those dusty and hard to reach areas. Buff it when completely dry with a soft shoe brush and buffing cloth.

My same pack arrived by return of post which was amazing. Have used two of the same tins ' o e on a piece of dark oak antique furniture and o e on a teak dining g table
The results were so very good and the pieces of furniture haven't look so good for a long time. I will be back for some standard size jars before too long . Heartily recommended!

What can I say but first class. Video’s are very helpful. I am using the wax to restore a baby grand piano. Have now waxed it twice and already the results are very encouraging.

Very high quality products

I'm no expert on wax but can tell these are of the best quality. The presentation of the kit and personal message, along with all the advice I've received , make this an excellent company to work with.

The Finishing Touches

Having just redecorated the Hall Stairs & Landing of my Georgian house, the bannisters looked stained, dirty and shabby. Gilboys antique gold polish worked wonders for them. The instructions were clear, polish easy to apply and the results fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend this product.

Perfect product

Thank you for a well thought out starter kit. Beautifully packaged - everything included. I loved the personal touch. But most importantly I love the results. My chair is not quite finished, I still have to finish the legs, but am now very excited to finish. The wood feels so good and it was so thirsty having been covered in a dark brown varnish for 100 years! The lovely oak can now be seen in all its glory! Thank you Gilboys

A Xmas present

Very pleased with purchase and service.

Excellent product.

I purchased this as I have just acquired 4x smokers chairs in need of some tlc.I had seen the TouTube demonstration by Gilboys and decided to try the wax but as I haven’t really done any restoration other than small repairs , decided to give the starter pack a try.
Very impressed so far. It was quickly delivered and in a very well presented package. With a personalised salutation which is a very nice touch.
I’ve only tried a small amount of the wax and am pleased with the result. I’ve yet to decide on buying the large tub
It’s a lot of money for what’s going to be a one off project but I do like the result and think I’ll probably have to take the plunge once I’ve used up the starter pack

Best polish ever

I will admit that I was skeptical about the promised results. But Gilboys furniture polish has brought out the beauty in my fireplace mantle that I thought was long gone. It is well worth the price and elbow grease. I love that they include sweet pea seeds in the package as well. I have planted them in my garden. Such a personalized touch! I will definitely be using only Gilboys polishes from here on out.

The starter pack was safely delivered just before Christmas. beautifully presented in its box with hand written message from Ian - thank you. Sadly the box got stashed away in a big clear up before Christmas Day and I've yet to find it again. I've been prowling around poking and prying into every hiding place, without success. This is really upsetting as I'd set aside a few days post-Christmas to spend reviving some precious items. It's got to turn up somewhere as I never throw anything away, but for the time being it's hiding place remains a complete mystery.. Happy New Year to you all at Gilboys.
