HOW TO POLISH WITH BEESWAX

  1. Use a soft cloth or very fine 0000 wire wool
  2. With gentle pressure spread the polish evenly over the surface in the direction of the grain, being careful not to over apply and avoid any upholstered areas. Once applied the surface area should look matt in appearance
  3. Allow the pure pine turpentine to completely evaporate and the wax to harden for 20-30 minutes
  4. Use a soft buffing cloth to buff the wax to a deep and lustrous shine

Weekly furniture maintenance of removing dust can be done by simply using a slightly damp cloth and drying if needed with a clean dry cloth - beeswax polish will protect the surface for a very long time.

If you have a larger surface like the side of a chest of drawers or the top of a dining table apply the beeswax more evenly by dabbing the surface all over with small amounts of polish and then wipe in the direction of the grain to spread the wax evenly.

*SECRET TRADE TIP:

For carved relief areas such as an antique coffer, you can also apply beeswax furniture polish with a cheap 1 inch trimmed paint brush. It makes applying the beeswax much easier and allows the polish to get right into those dusty and hard to reach areas. Buff it 20 to 30 minutes later with the soft shoe brush and buffing cloth.

Lovely product to use!

This Ercol easy chair was bought by my parents when newly married in 1957, and at some point in the ‘70s my father thought it would be a good idea to varnish it a horrible purple blue colour. I’ve only just now, on retirement myself and with time on my hands, stripped the frame back to plain beech, and the beeswax ‘pure gold’ finish from Gilboys is both a delight to apply and a gorgeous finish to look at, I’m very pleased with the result. The product came beautifully packaged too!

Great natural product

After an online search for 'natural and sustainable wax polish', I chose Gilboy's Pure Gold, and I'm very happy with the first coat results; one door down, 11 to go!
Easy to apply, easy to buff, all it requires is a little time and effort, and the sheen, and smell, is lovely.
There's a wealth of videos on YouTube to watch for how to's, the packaging is plastic free with great attention to detail, and I loved the free seeds for the bees. Will definitely be back for more.

Great mix of wax

I found, Gilboys wax, brilliant, easy to apply, with 0000 steel wool, and polish off, with tbe cotton netting cloth I also bought, over an oil finnish, on a chair I was restoring.
Great quality, Gilboys wax, finished of tbe chair nicely.

New light oak bannister, spindles etc. and doors.

All the stair parts and doors were fitted unfinished.
Simon’s video on your website was invaluable. I took his advice for bare wood and first rubbed in clear hard wax oil after first sanding all smooth. After letting it all dry for a day or so I fine sanded smooth again. I then applied the pure gold bees wax polish with the 0000 Wire wool ( in the finishing kit I also ordered ) this went on lovely and smoothly. After a good half hour I polished it up. We are delighted with the results so far. The delay in reviewing was because it’s still work in progress.
I’ve previously used pure gold on oak furniture and always delighted with the result.
I will need to use the 25% off refill offer to fully complete the job.
The box of sweat peas is a lovely touch, these are already sprouting in the greenhouse.
Thank you Simon and the team for a great product and helpful advice.
