IMPROVED UV PROTECTION

Our commitment to preserving the natural beauty of your wooden furniture has led us to improve our beeswax polish formula by incorporating a UV absorber. This addition has been scientifically proven to significantly lessen the harmful effects of UV radiation from direct sunlight on wooden surfaces.

By integrating a UV absorber into our trusted beeswax polish formula, we provide additional protection that absorbs even more of the harmful UV rays before they can damage the wood or its finish. This advanced protection is especially crucial for pieces exposed to direct sunlight, helping to greatly reduce discolouration and extend the life of your furniture.

While it does not block all UV rays entirely, it acts as a crucial additional barrier, extending the life of your furniture and keeping its colour and finish vibrant.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

Environmental preservation is very important to us and we make every effort to ensure our products have a minimal impact on the environment:

  • We are not driven by a corporate cost-reduction ethos. We select our components based on quality and sustainability rather than the cheapest alternatives
  • 100% Plastic-free recyclable packaging
    • 70% recycled cardboard and paper from FSC-approved mixed sources
    • Packing tape that is paper & cotton based with a water-based gum adhesive which can be recycled along with the cardboard boxes
    • No polypropylene-based tape. We use biodegradable raffia twine.
  • No petrochemical solvents, we use only pure pine gum spirits of turpentine
  • Reusable Le Parfait jars with a Return & Refill discount scheme
  • Our workshop roof is completely covered in solar panels and generates far more electricity than we consume

HOW TO POLISH WITH BEESWAX

  1. Use the included super-soft ultra-fine 0000 wire wool to apply
  2. With gentle pressure spread the polish evenly over the surface in the direction of the grain, being careful not to over apply and avoid any upholstered areas. Once applied the surface area should look matt in appearance
  3. Allow the pure pine turpentine to completely evaporate and the wax to harden for 20-30 minutes
  4. Use the included 100% cotton open-weave buffing cloth to gently buff the wax to your preferred level of shine. We recommend an open-weave buffing cloth to help prevent smearing through over-heating and melting the wax.

Weekly furniture maintenance of removing dust can be done by simply using a slightly damp cloth and drying if needed with a clean dry cloth - beeswax polish will protect the surface for a very long time.

If you have a larger surface like the side of a chest of drawers or the top of a dining table apply the beeswax more evenly by dabbing the surface all over with small amounts of polish and then wipe in the direction of the grain to spread the wax evenly.

*SECRET TRADE TIP:

For carved relief areas such as an antique coffer, you can also apply beeswax furniture polish with a cheap 1 inch trimmed paint brush. It makes applying the beeswax much easier and allows the polish to get right into those dusty and hard to reach areas. Buff it 20 to 30 minutes later with the soft shoe brush and buffing cloth.

Came up brilliantly - the only snag is I should’ve ordered a large pot of beeswax. The wire wool wasn’t enough, ran out.

Would recommend this to family and friends.

Best beeswax polish on the market

I love beeswax polishes but dread the inevitable of it going dry and then hard to buff up to a good shine with other makes I’ve tried in the past.

I was really nervous trying this product as it’s more expensive than others and as I was using it on an old oak drop leaf side table I’d recently purchased that was so dry, dull, full of cobwebs etc I was eager to see if Gilboys really did work without the dreaded hard work buffing to a shine.

Having washed the dirt off (I’ve been watching Gilboys videos), I applied the wax on the driest part first -the legs thus giving the wax longer to soak in whilst I tackled the table top.

I duly made a cuppa and sat back watching the garden birds for 30 mins (again following the video) before buffing.

And Wow, it was super easy - no hard rubbing to get the beeswax to a good shine.

I have loads left in my jar for my great grandmothers Victorian blanket box, my grandfathers rocking chair and the mantelpiece.

I’ve also got a jar of the lighter wax to tackle my parents Teak Mud century Gplan dining table and chairs.

Gilboys-you are a marvel and eventually when I run out I’ll be reordering.

BTW, the videos are great, I had one playing whilst I was tackling that little table - it was like having you in the room with me for that added confidence boost!

Have not had the time to use the wax.If the wax is as good as the service there will not be a problem.

Beeswax Rose & Antique furniture polish

Visited the shop, Simon and Ian very helpful, talked through the process and showed us around. Delighted with the results of restoring my Welsh Dresser. Good luck with the new premises.

Left feeling like a pro

Fantastic quality polish. Leaves impressive, very natural aged finish on our restored dining chairs. With no experience at all I’m left feeling like a pro! I’ve now ran out of the polish after getting carried away restoring a bench and a nest of tables…I’ll be buying some more! Pic shows before (right) and after (left)

Rose and Antique Polishing Kit

We've used many reputable brands of natural beeswax over the decades, but have always been slightly disappointed by the results. Having researched again recently, Gilboys wood polishes seemed to be the best available (I also found the YouTube tutorials very helpful). Unsure of precisely which product I needed, I phoned and Simon himself gave very full advice. And I can confirm, the product is totally outstanding: I have never achieved results like this before… quite exceptional. Forget current political hyperbole: this genuinely IS a world-class product. Well done Gilboys!

Amazing stuff!!!

I'm so glad I searched out a superior product like this for the antique cabinet we just purchased. It definitely takes some work and elbow grease, but the shine it gives is awesome! I know this product will ensure the piece lives a long happy life.

Brilliant product and service - I will be happily reviving my furniture!

Simon's videos and the instructions inspired me to give this a go and I am so pleased with my first effort. So pleased with this after a trial that I have ordered the full one litre cans. Great product - and I hope your business thrives, you deserve to. Before and after windowsill below. Thanks.
