IMPROVED UV PROTECTION

Our commitment to preserving the natural beauty of your wooden furniture has led us to improve our beeswax polish formula by incorporating a UV absorber. This addition has been scientifically proven to significantly lessen the harmful effects of UV radiation from direct sunlight on wooden surfaces.

By integrating a UV absorber into our trusted beeswax polish formula, we provide additional protection that absorbs even more of the harmful UV rays before they can damage the wood or its finish. This advanced protection is especially crucial for pieces exposed to direct sunlight, helping to greatly reduce discolouration and extend the life of your furniture.

While it does not block all UV rays entirely, it acts as a crucial additional barrier, extending the life of your furniture and keeping its colour and finish vibrant.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

Environmental preservation is very important to us and we make every effort to ensure our products have a minimal impact on the environment:

  • We are not driven by a corporate cost-reduction ethos. We select our components based on quality and sustainability rather than the cheapest alternatives
  • 100% Plastic-free recyclable packaging
    • 70% recycled cardboard and paper from FSC-approved mixed sources
    • Packing tape that is paper & cotton based with a water-based gum adhesive which can be recycled along with the cardboard boxes
    • No polypropylene-based tape. We use biodegradable raffia twine.
  • No petrochemical solvents, we use only pure pine gum spirits of turpentine
  • Reusable Le Parfait jars with a Return & Refill discount scheme
  • Our workshop roof is completely covered in solar panels and generates far more electricity than we consume

HOW TO USE OUR BEESWAX POLISH

  1. Use the included ultra-soft steel wire wool to apply
  2. With gentle pressure spread the polish evenly over the surface in the direction of the grain, being careful not to over apply and avoid any upholstered areas. Once applied the surface area should look matt in appearance
  3. Allow the pure pine turpentine to completely evaporate and the wax to harden for 20-30 minutes
  4. Use the included open-weave cotton buffing cloth to gently buff the wax to your preferred level of lustre. An open-weave cloth helps to prevent smearing.

Weekly furniture maintenance of removing dust can be done by simply using a slightly damp cloth and drying if needed with a clean dry cloth - beeswax polish will protect the surface for a very long time.

If you have a larger surface like the side of a chest of drawers or the top of a dining table apply the beeswax more evenly by dabbing the surface all over with small amounts of polish and then wipe in the direction of the grain to spread the wax evenly.

*SECRET TRADE TIP:

For carved relief areas such as an antique coffer, you can also apply beeswax furniture polish with a cheap 1 inch trimmed paint brush. It makes applying the beeswax much easier and allows the polish to get right into those dusty and hard to reach areas. Buff it 20 to 30 minutes later with the soft shoe brush and buffing cloth.

pure gold' Clear Beeswax Furniture Polishing Kit

Great product, nicely presented kit

A surprisingly small amount of polish is needed to obtain an excellent finish, so this offsets the relatively high initial cost.
Very easy to apply. The wax is firmer and slightly harder to spread than other waxes, but the end result was actually better than I had expected.

Product packaging

The products themselves look very good and, the speed of service is excellent. However, the lack of any packaging is appalling. I bought this product for a gift and the fact that it came in a very nice presentation box was part of the attraction. When it arrived, there was no outer packaging at all and the large carrier’s label was stuck over the top and front. The label could not be removed without damaging the box. The box corners were also slightly damaged. Despite the products and presentation looking very good, the lack of attention to the outer protection wrapping will stop me from repeat purchasing.

Hi Gillian
Thank you for taking time out to leave a review.
I'm very sorry that we didn't fulfill your expectations. I fully understand your frustration.
As you may well have seen for yourself on our website and elsewhere, I pride myself on customer satisfaction.
A few years ago we completely redesigned all of our packaging. I wanted to reduce the weight and waste of very unnecessary exterior packaging.
Our completely bespoke boxes are made from recycled cardboard and are designed to withstand worldwide shipping. It has been hugely successful for us and the environment.
We have never encountered any problems with it until now, when your review came through a few minutes ago, and I get it.
I will ask our website editor to add a field in the customer comment section to prompt people to notify us if it is 'intended as a gift'. We will then package it accordingly.
Please accept my apologies.
Do you still have the kit? Or have you gifted it?
If you do still have it, I am more than happy to send a new polishing kit out in exterior packaging for you to give as a gift. and I'll pay for the other one to be returned back to us.

Kindest regards
Simon Gilboy

Best beeswax polish out there

I am a hobbyist woodworker and use the "pure gold" on all my pieces, as well as on furniture around the house. It is, in my opinion, by far the best beeswax product out there.

First use of Gilboys

At last have had chance to use Gilboys beeswax. I had to wait until I’d had chance to remove all the previous product from my dressing table. Well worth the wait. The wax went on very easily and has produced a lovely warm finish. I look forward to building up further layers.

Best I have used.

I am only an amateur woodworker but over a fairly long lifetime I have come across pretty much every type of oil, wax, varnish around.. Without doubt I believe that Gilboys hard wax oil is the best product I have ever used. It is so easy to use and gives a superb “professional “ annd hard wearing finish. Adding the beeswax at the end just puts the cherry on the cake. And the smell………
