Victorian Mahogany Bed Step Commode

Work carried out - Repair splits in the steps. Joints have been strengthened. Old repairs which had inappropriate wood have been replaced with matching mahogany from the period.

Mouldings and nosings have been consolidated. Hinges removed, repaired and re-seated The original finish has been cleaned. Areas have been coloured to match where damaged by the sun. Pattern matched 100% leather skivers inlaid to each step Oil and waxed to finish.

Victorian Mahogany chest of drawers

This chest had suffered from sunlight damage and old age!

The remaining bleached and flaky polish was removed. Main carcass was rebuilt, veneer has been replaced on the plinth, drawer runners renewed, dust shelves were reinstated, locks have been serviced.

A reviving wash was applied which has brought back the colour. Nick French polished it with special pale polish, allowing the natural colour and grain of the wood to be shown at its best.

From simple cleaning to Silver solder repairs. we can match almost any handle and castor, key cutting and lock repair.

All restoration work is carried out using traditional methods and materials.

You can be confident that your furniture is in the hands of professional craftsmen who care about your furniture and their reputation and who are sympathetic to the period that the furniture represents.
