Queen Anne, Walnut  Cabinet-on-Chest
Early18thC

Pictured here after restoration prior to dulling and waxing

This fine piece of antique furniture was commisioned to us to restore in August 2007.

English Walnut Bureau

- a very good quality honest Victorian reproduction of a 1740 English walnut bureau.

Victorian Mahogany chest of drawers

This chest had suffered from sunlight damage and old age!

The remaining bleached and flaky polish was removed, main carcass was rebuilt, veneer has been replaced on the plinth, drawer runners renewed, dust shelves were reinstated, locks have been serviced.

A reviving wash was applied which has brought back the colour.

Nick French polished it with special pale polish, allowing the natural colour and grain of the wood to be shown at its best.

Flame Mahogany late 18thC Chest - with graduated drawers and brushing slide

This beautiful piece of furniture had unfortunately suffered in a house fire and in addition at the receiving end of a fire hose!

It was removed to our workshop where it was fully restored. Luckily we were able to keep all of the piece original.

We also straightened out the brushing slide which had bowed considerably with the heat and water.

Georgian Mahogany Pembroke Table - with satinwood stringing and mahogany cross-banding

Repairs carried out - This table had been neglected for many years.

The remaining finish was removed. The satinwood stringing on the tapering legs was repaired along with the lifting veneer on the edge banding.

It was then washed with oxalic acid which removed any old bleached areas and brought out the natural colour of the wood.

It was then stained to enhance this. Finally it was French polished and waxed. Leaving a satin antique finish.
